Asus K50IJ-D2 15.6-Inch Black Versatile Entertainment Laptop Review from Jay Mapstone. Get more for your money with ASUS, Just received the ASUS K50IJ-D2 after doing much research. I wasn’t in the market for an ultra-portable machine since I wanted a full keyboard and a built-in disc drive. Overall, when comparing specs line by line with other machines (processor, hard drive size, memory, etc.) the ASUS was always at least $50 cheaper than other brands. Sometimes as much as $200 cheaper. The machine is fast, runs great, and so far has done everything as expected. Cons (as compared to other machines): -Basic black appearance (not hip) -touch pad has no dedicated scroll area (purely a preference issue) -no volume control on the keyboard area (slightly less convenient than HP DV7 for example) Pros: -As mentioned above- more machine for your money NOTE: The ASUS K50IJ-X8 appears to be exactly the same machine as this one, only with a larger hard drive (500 GB vs. 320 GB), and the X8 is cheaper!
